How to Keep your Windwos PC Healthy

After Installing a fresh copy of Microsoft Windows we need to do a few things to keep it safe, secure and speedy lets list them out.

  1. Auto Run (Recommended)

This is a must do thing in a fresh windows installation because windows has a functionality to auto run any removable media (CD/DVD/USB), This functionality can be called ease of use but at the same time viruses have targeted Auto Run functionality to run a viral script. This way when you plug in your USB the viral script runs without any of your action and this auto run some times can not be scanned when running or you can say it takes some time to scan this area and till then you are infected, so it is recommended to Disable auto run by the following procedure.

    Click Start
go to Control Panel   and Click Auto Play

In AutoPlay Uncheck the following check box

    and Click Save

  2. Show Hidden Files (Recommended)

As we know there is an option to hide your files in windows and this option is enabled by default. This is also helpful for viruses to hide viral files in your USB drives which runs on autorun. If you have disabled Auto Run which can run the virus that exists on your USB, there is still around 90% chance that you will run the viral script yourself without even knowing it... Amazed? let me tell you how is there a huge possibility to run that virus: Majority of people opens there USB drive by double clicking it and double clicking the USB icon in "My Computer"

This is the easiest way to navigate your USB drive but unfortunately this is the most unsafest way to navigate your removable drive and a very common way to spread virus, instead if hidden files are shown you can check your removable drive for any possible viral scripts by navigating in to it with single click from the left side navigation bar.

  3. Anti Virus (Recommended)

The best Anti Virus for Windows PC user is Microsoft's Security Essential. Since it has a great compatibility with operating system while other Anti Viruses just can't beat it in compatibility.
To Download Microsoft Security Essential click here  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download
  4. Windows Update. (Optional)

Microsoft and many reputable technical consultants recommends to keep your windows update some recommends to schedule an update some recommends to do it manually while I would rather say "do not update your windows ever until you have a technical requirement". Practically you will never feel any difference in your PC after any update rather your computer will slow down with every update. when you download the update you waste your Internet Bandwidth when you install it you waste your processing time and power. After installing update you lose some of your disk space. I am sure your computer does not belongs to NASA so you never need any update. overall Windows Update is a total waste.
  5. Windows Theme (Optional)

By every new version of Windows, its themes are being more and more attractive but at the same time it is becoming heavier for the computer if you have no major load on you computer you can enjoy these good looking windows themes, but if you feel your system is a bit too heavy and it takes time in almost every task you should think about disabling these good looking themes and switch to Windows Classic Theme.
